The San Francisco Earthquake: Then & Now by Shawn Clover
The earthquake that occurred in 1906 may have seemed to have only lasted 42 seconds, however the repercussions lasted for 4 days and 4 nights as fires spread through the city and destroyed 25,000 buildings on 490 differant blocks. Today photographer Shawn Clover was able to use a vast catalogue of photographs from the 1906 earthquake aftermath to re-create the exact same shots with his modern camera. By combining the two sets of images together he was able to display the past and present side by side in a single image.
